Fall Fun Is Back On at Edward’s

Due to the pandemic, many activities were put on hold over the past two years. We are pleased to bring back an Autumn tradition this year for children to enjoy, along with seminars and workshops that were a favorite in years’ past.

Fall Fun for the Family

Bring the kids to the garden center for festive and fun Fall activities any day of the week during regular business hours –we’ve got the kiddie straw maze, corn crib, plastic slides and spooky photo opps for the older kids and kids at heart.  While entrance to this fun zone is free, we are accepting and appreciative of donations in any amount for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This cause holds a special place in our hearts because owner Ed Kopec’s son Jimmy was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 12 and Ed’s grandson Nolan was recently diagnosed at age 3. The Kopec Family will be putting their heart and soles into raising money for this cause when their feet hit the pavement in Philadelphia at an upcoming walk fund-raiser to bring awareness to the disease and to raise money to help find a cure.

The Giant Pumpkin Is Back

A fun annual tradition at Edward’s is to display a giant pumpkin and encourage visitors to guess at the weight of the pumpkin. This year there is no cost or donation request for anyone to take a guess at the weight of this pumpkin. Simply stop by the garden center, take a close look at our mega pumpkin, and then stop in the gift shop to enter your guess at the weight. You could win a $100 gift certificate if your guess is closest to the actual weight.

Seminars and Workshops Are Underway Again

It’s been great to gather people again at the garden center to participate in festive fun and to learning about gardening topics. The kids had a blast at the Fairy Garden Workshop and Pumpkin Painting Workshop and we have a few events coming up for adults.

  • Sunday, October 16 at 1:00 PM Richie Mitchell, owner of Bear Creek Organics will lead a seminar on organic gardening. He will bring some specialty plants to show us.  We will also have some light refreshments. The cost is $15 and registration and payment are required in advance.
  • Sunday, November 13 at 1:00 PM – Scarecrow making.  Join us for more hands-on Fall fun in our scarecrow-making workshop. Create this special decoration just in time for visits from the family over the Thanksgiving holiday. The cost is $25 and registration is required.
  • Sunday, December 4 at 1:00 PM – Paint and Sip – This event is for the “big kids”, aka adults. Paint a holiday-themed image to add to your home’s seasonal decor. The cost is $30 and registration is required.
